Music
Despite the restaurant’s regular operations being closed for the winter, our favorite in-house musician, Matthew Tipich is still sneaking in to play amazing tunes. Watch his recent rendition of “Fly me to the Moon”
Worth Reading
Our journalist in occasional residence, James Pogue had an opinion piece in the NYT that draws out the divides looming over the new administration. The questions of technology and American identity are not easy and come up regularly at The Wagon Box. The two-edged sword of modern technology will be a topic of discussion at our upcoming Homesteading Symposium.

Out and About:
Practical Tip
Kevin suggests:
With Painting, painful as it is, prep work is everything. Your finish coat will only look as good as the surface you're painting over. Inspect your walls and get rid of old boogers, nails, holes, cracks and uneven repairs. Re-caulk trim and baseboards. Invest in a 9 in vacuum drywall disc Sander connected to a shop vac with HEPA filter. I picked one up at Harbor Freight and it has become one of my favorite tools. I've used it to sand floors, decks, popcorn ceilings, and on every paint job I take the time to hit every surface. It makes a huge difference. Speaking of prep, kitchen grease is a killer. For heavy Curry or fried chicken residue scrub it with a degreaser, then a heavy pass with the sander. In some cases it's worth the extra step to roll or spray Kilz Original before your latex top coats.”
Scripture and Quotation worth Considering
“The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head." Proverbs 20:29
“Light is the name of the shadow of the living light” ~Bernard of Clairvaux
Historical Trivia
From : After the Nazis invaded Denmark in April 1940, the US Coast Guard invaded Greenland to secure the territory and the North Atlantic. To maintain neutrality, all the guardsmen who landed were formally discharged prior to the invasion, thus the landing of volunteers was plausibly not an act of war. The Danish government-in-exile later approved US presence, and allowed us to occupy starting in 1941. Will Greenland once again be part of the USA?
